What does Google Ads management cost in South Africa?

The management fee is only useful once you know what work it buys—and what still sits outside it.

The short answer

Public South African packages range from a few thousand rand a month to R15,000 or more. A smaller account with limited complexity should not carry the same fee as a multi-location account with several campaigns, products and conversion paths. Traffic Maven's active management currently starts at R6,500 a month; a narrow monthly account review is R1,200.

First separate the four different costs

  1. Advertising spend: the money paid to Google for clicks and impressions.
  2. Management: the ongoing thinking, optimisation, budget control and reporting.
  3. Setup and implementation: new campaigns, conversion tracking, feeds, landing pages or account repair.
  4. Creative and production: copy, design, video, photography or website work needed around the campaign.

A quote looks cheap when two of those costs have simply been left out.

What should change the management fee?

Spend matters, but it is not the whole story. The number of campaigns, locations, products, languages, landing pages, conversion types and internal stakeholders can create more work than budget alone suggests.

A stable local search campaign may need a few sound decisions each month. A national account feeding calls, forms, WhatsApps and ecommerce transactions needs deeper monitoring and better measurement.

No VAT is currently added. Advertising spend, specialist creative, substantial tracking work and landing-page production are separate unless the proposal says otherwise.

When the cheaper review is the better decision

If the account is small, stable and already maintained by somebody internally, full management may be unnecessary. The R1,200 monthly Google Ads review is designed to catch expensive mistakes without pretending to provide weekly optimisation.

If the account needs frequent changes, new campaigns, budget reallocation and proper reporting, a monthly inspection will become false economy.

Questions to ask before comparing proposals

  • How often will somebody experienced actually inspect the account?
  • Who does the work after the sale?
  • Are tracking repairs and new campaigns included?
  • Is reporting tied to leads and sales, or only platform activity?
  • Does the fee change with spend, campaign count or complexity?
  • Who owns the account and the data?

Sources and method

The market range is directional, based on publicly available South African service and pricing pages reviewed in September 2026, including Juicy Designs, Glimpse and Honey Whale. Public packages are not directly comparable; each provider includes different work.

Frequently asked questions

Is Google Ads spend included in the management fee?

Normally not. Media spend is paid to Google, while the management fee pays for the work on the account.

Should the fee be a percentage of ad spend?

A percentage can make sense where complexity grows with spend, but it can also reward the supplier for increasing budget. A fixed scope with clear review points is often easier for a smaller business to judge.

How soon should management improve results?

Obvious waste and broken tracking can be addressed quickly. Commercial improvement depends on demand, the offer, sales follow-up and the amount of reliable data—not merely how often settings are changed.
